---- — PLATTSBURGH — A former Beekmantown resident was arrested Wednesday on a felony worker’s compensation charge associated with insurance fraud.
Bonnie L. Miller, 62, of Ocala, Fla., was arrested by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Justice Court Wednesday before Judge Kevin Patnode on a charge of worker’s compensation fraudulent practices.
It is alleged that Miller was receiving worker’s compensation benefits without reporting it to her employer or insurance company while she continued to work in her own capacity, according to the Clinton County District Attorney’s Office. She received $6,195.62 in worker’s compensation benefits to which she was not entitled, officials said.
Miller was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled to reappear in court Jan. 3.
Clinton County Assistant District Attorney Jason Marx is prosecuting the case. Miller is not yet represented by an attorney, according to the District Attorney’s office.
The Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigation Unit and the New York State Worker’s Compensation Office of the Inspector General assisted in the investigation.
