---- — VERMONTVILLE — Neighbors called in a fire at 105 Cold Brook Road, as the residents weren’t home.
The Franklin County Cause and Origin Team is investigating the cause of the fire, though it isn’t believed to be suspicious, said Tim Woodruff, Bloomingdale Fire Chief.
“First arriving units found smoke coming out of all the windows,” Woodruff said. “The house was full of smoke.”
There was fire and smoke damage to the house, but the fire wasn’t too serious and it wasn’t a total loss, he said.
The Bloomingdale Fire Department responded with three trucks and 16 people at about 1:30 p.m. Saranac Lake, Paul Smiths-Gabriels, and Lake Placid fire departments also responded.
“We knocked the fire down quickly,” Woodruff said.
The Bloomingdale Fire Department was back in service at about 4:30 p.m.
