Saranac teen charged with criminal sex act

SARANAC — A Saranac man was arrested Wednesday on criminal sex act charges.

Zachary T. Vaughan, 19, was arrested at noon Wednesday by New York Troop B State Police, according to a State Police blotter entry.

Vaughan incurred three charges: second-degree criminal sex act with a victim younger than 15 years old, a felony; giving a false written statement, a misdemeanor; and acting in a manner to injure a child younger than 17 years old, a misdemeanor.

According to New York State Penal Law, a person is guilty of a second-degree criminal sex act when the defendant, being 18 years old or older, engages in oral or anal sexual conduct with another person who is younger than 15 years old.

The alleged incident was reported to police Nov. 14, 2012, according to the blotter entry.

The Clinton County Jail did not have any record of Vaughan ever being incarcerated there Thursday.

However, the blotter entry lists that Vaughan posted cash bail of an unknown amount.

State Police could not be reached Thursday for further information.

Saranac Town Court could also not be reached Thursday.
