CHAMPLAIN — A West Chazy woman was injured in a one-car Route 9 accident Saturday.
Kathleen M. Garrant, 52, was driving north in the town of Champlain at approximately 11 a.m. Saturday when she drifted off the east shoulder of the road, according to Chazy-based State Police. Garrant’s vehicle struck a mailbox, entered a ditch and then struck a driveway culvert, becoming airborne, police said. The vehicle overturned and landed in a ditch, trapping her in the car.
Champlain Fire Department and EMS responded. Emergency workers were able to get Garrant out of the vehicle by moving the driver’s seat and forcing open the door, police said. Garrant was transported to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh complaining of pain. She was treated at CVPH and later released.
