FELONY ARRESTS

SCHROON — A Schroon Lake man faces felony driving while intoxicated charges after an accident Wednesday.

Schroon Lake-based State Police reported Matthew S. Fariss, 27, was eastbound on Alder Meadow road in the Town of Schroon at about 2 a.m. As he approached a curve, his vehicle struck a guide rail and became stuck on it.

Although uninjured, subsequent investigation found Fariss allegedly intoxicated, with a blood alcohol content of 0.22 percent. He was charged with felony driving while intoxicated for having a prior conviction within 10 years, as well as aggravated driving while intoxicated for having a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent or higher.

Fariss was also ticketed for consuming alcohol within a vehicle and failure to keep right. 

He was arraigned at the Town of Schroon Court and released on his own recognizance, to reappear in Town of Schroon Court on Sept. 25.

TUPPER LAKE — A Tupper Lake man was arrested for felony grand larceny Tuesday.

Joshue A LaFlair, 26, was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a class A misdemeanor and grand larceny auto, a class E felony, Tupper Lake police said.

LaFlair was sent to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.

No further information was available.

PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was arrested Monday for third-degree rape involving a female under age 17.

New York State law enforcement received a referral from an organization that reports maltreatment of children, initiating an investigation conducted by Plattsburgh City Police that revealed Jason Coryer, 36, allegedly had sexual contact with a 16-year-old, City Police said.

Coryer and the girl were involved in a relationship from July to September, police said.

At about 3:40 p.m. Monday police arrested Coryer. He was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and was committed to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash or $3,000 bond, police said.
