PLATTSBURGH — A South Hero, Vt. man was charged Oct. 25 with drug possession.
At about 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, a State Police trooper saw a black 2012 Dodge Ram driving southbound on Interstate 87, according to State Police Troop B Public Information Officer Trooper Jennifer Fleishman.
As the vehicle approached Exit 38, it drifted into the merge lane of the exit and then drifted back on the main part of the highway, Fleishman said.
The vehicle continued to drive along the fog line, she said, until the trooper pulled it over.
The driver, Ira M. Boardman, 55, was found with a loaded rifle, Fleishman said.
Boardman was also found with a small amount of cocaine and a needle, she said.
He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony; possession of a hypodermic instrument, a misdemeanor; prohibited possession of a firearm, a misdemeanor; and moving from a lane unsafely, an infraction.
He was arraigned in Plattsburgh Town Court and was taken to the Clinton County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,000 bond.
