Police Log: Oct. 12, 2012 — Felony arrest

TUPPER LAKE — A Beekmantown man faces a felony charge after crashing his car into an apartment building.

Marc A. Bonbrest, 24, led police on a multi-county pursuit Oct. 4 while driving a 2011 blue, four-door Subaru sedan at an allegedly high rate of speed, according to Ray Brook-based State Police.

He was chased by police for about 20 minutes from St. Lawrence County to Franklin County, through the Village of Tupper Lake before crashing into an apartment house at 68 Lake St. where people were home at the time.

Bonbrest was arrested at about 5:12 p.m. and charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, a felony. He also faces two counts of criminal mischief causing reckless damage to a property in an amount exceeding $250 and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in the Village of Tupper Lake Court and remanded to Franklin County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash or $2,500 bond.

Bonbrest was later released from jail on a court order, according to prison records.

He is due back in court Oct. 22.
