DICKINSON — A Santa Clara man was charged with aggravated driving while ability impaired with a child in the vehicle Tuesday.
Michael A. Cayea's 2002 Nissan Sentra was stopped by police on Route 5 in Dickinson at about 9:15 p.m., State Police said.
The 23-year-old was found with about 10 grams of marijuana, police said.
Troopers determined he was driving while under the influence of drugs with an 11-year-old girl in the vehicle, police said.
Cayea was charged with aggravated DWAI with a child in the car (Leandra's Law), a felony; unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, and inadequate headlights, a violation.
He was taken to Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone where he submitted to a blood test to determine the level of drugs in his blood, police said.
He was arraigned in Dickinson Town Court and released into the supervision of the Franklin County Probation Department.
Cayea is scheduled to reappear in court on Wednesday.
