PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man was charged Thursday with strangulation following an alleged domestic incident.
Plattsburgh City Police responded to an apartment on Sailly Avenue in the City of Plattsburgh for a report of a domestic incident.
It is alleged that during a verbal argument Jonathan Dawley, 25, was having with his girlfriend in the midst of their ending the relationship, he held her down on a bed and would not allow her to get up, Plattsburgh City Police said.
Dawley also allegedly approached the victim from behind and placed his arm around her neck, applying pressure to her throat and making it difficult for her to breathe, police said.
The woman told police she intended on seeking medical attention, police said.
Dawley was arrested at 5:19 p.m. and was charged with second-degree strangulation with obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a felony, and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, a misdemeanor.
Dawley was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court.
