---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh woman was charged Monday with assault and menacing following an alleged domestic dispute.

Elizabeth Jabaut, 22, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony; second-degree attempted assault, a felony; first-degree unlawful imprisonment, a felony; two counts of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

That evening, Plattsburgh City Police responded to a residence on Couch Street in the City of Plattsburgh after a man called saying he was locked in a bedroom and a woman was threatening him with a knife, police said.

After police knocked on the door of the residence, Jabaut answered the door.

She was not cooperative with officers’ orders when they attempted to search her to make sure she wasn’t in possession of a weapon but they were able to handcuff her, police said.

Police located the caller in the bedroom who was hysterical and difficult to interview, police said.

The man told them the dispute was the result of several days of arguing over relationship problems between he and Jabaut.

He said she had used a serrated steak knife to jab at him, causing three cuts to his left hand, police said.

It was unknown if the man needed medical attention.

Jabaut was arraigned in Plattsburgh City Court and released on a court appearance ticket.
