---- — PLATTSBURGH — A Plattsburgh man is facing several charges following a domestic dispute early Sunday.
According to Plattsburgh City Police, Derek L. Barse, 32, was arrested at 1:30 a.m. at 112 Oak St., Apt. 1, after engaging in a dispute with his girlfriend.
He was charged with second-degree strangulation, a class D felony; third-degree attempted assault, a class B misdemeanor; fourth-degree criminal mischief, a class A misdemeanor; and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, also a class A misdemeanor.
The criminal mischief charge, police said, stems from damage caused to personal property.
In addition, Barse was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a class D felony, for having a high-capacity magazine capable of 33 rounds, as well as a Yugoslavian SKS assault rifle capable of accepting a detachable magazine with a bayonet and a grenade launcher, according to police.
The weapons, police noted, were not directly involved in the incident but were seized as part of the investigation.
Barse was arraigned Sunday in City Court before Judge Niles and remanded to Clinton County jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.
He is scheduled to reappear in court at a later date.
