MASSENA — A Hogansburg woman was charged with drug possession Wednesday.

At about 1:30 p.m., State Police responded to the Massena port of entry where U.S. Customs and Border Protection and conducted a secondary inspection on a vehicle driven by Elisha M. Thompson, 24, who was attempting to cross the border from Canada into the United States, State Police said in a press release.

Border Protection officers found 25 Percocet pills in a clear plastic bag under Thompson’s clothes, police said, and she did not have a legal prescription for the medication.

Thompson was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

She was arraigned in Massena Town Court and sent to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.

She is set to reappear in court Tuesday.
