MOOERS — A Vermont man was injured in a one-car accident Wednesday.
Shortly before 11 a.m., Bernard Newton, 87, of Stowe, Vt., was driving east on Route 11 in the Town of Mooers when he allegedly fell asleep and his vehicle drifted off the right side of the road, striking a truck that was legally parked on the shoulder of Route 11 near Cindy’s Country Store, according to a news release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
The truck’s owner, Delvin Meseck, was inside the store and the time of the crash, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Newton was taken to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh for treatment of cuts to his hands and lower arms, the release said.
He was in stable condition Thursday, the Sheriff’s Department said.
