PLATTSBURGH — Freezing rain coated Clinton County roads Sunday evening, causing numerous accidents in the Plattsburgh and Beekmantown areas.
Emergency workers closed the northbound lane of Interstate 87 in Beekmantown at about 7:30 p.m. because of accidents near the Stratton Hill Road overpass.
Although many of the accidents were reported as property-damage mishaps, the I-87 crash appeared to have resulted in injuries.
Other accidents were reported in Essex County, also on I-87. In the City of Plattsburgh disabled cars blocked the intersection of Cornelia and Prospect at least briefly during the evening.
However, no details were available about any of these accidents Sunday evening.
