MOOERS — A Mooers sex offender was arrested Tuesday for allegedly failing to report a change of address, as law requires.
Shawn M. Gardner, 27, allegedly failed to notify the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office of his change of address in accordance with the Sex Offender Registration Act, the Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Gardner was arrested at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday and was charged with failure to notify a change of address, a felony.
He was released on an appearance ticket for June 11 in Altona Town Court.
The most recent address for Gardner listed on New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services’ website is 155 Bashaw Road in Mooers.
On May 4, 2004, Gardner was convicted of having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl, according to state agency’s online records.
He was originally arrested in Vermont, the records show.
