Published May 12, 2008 06:16 am - A North Carolina man faces a felony charge after cashing a payroll check and then allegedly walking off with the money and the check.

CLINTON -- A man received 11 tickets and was arrested for felony driving while intoxicated after he allegedly almost hit a State Police cruiser head on Saturday evening.
Chazy-based State Police reported Corey A. Baker, 30, of 142 Rogers Road, Churubusco, was northbound on Brandy Brook Road in the Town of Clinton at about 9:50 p.m. when he nearly hit a police cruiser headed south. The trooper turned around and pursued Baker, who pulled over after he turned onto State Route 11.
Police said Baker was found to be intoxicated during the subsequent investigation. He was ticketed for driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated (common law), aggravated unlicensed operation, no headlights, no inspection, no registration, no insurance, a broken windshield, failure to keep right, open container and throwing a bottle on the highway.
The DWI charge is a felony because of two DWI convictions within the last 10 years.
He was arraigned in Chazy Town Court before Town Justice Robert Dunlop and remanded to Clinton County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond. He is to reappear May 13.
