Police Log: April 29, 2009 - Personal-injury accident

PERU -- State Police and Peru firefighters responded to an accident Sunday when a Keeseville woman drove her car off the northbound lane of I-87 just south of Exit 36. Plattsburgh-based State Police said 20-year-old Heather Calkins, who was not wearing a seat belt, was injured in the accident. She was transported by ambulance to CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh where she remained in stable condition Sunday night. Troopers said her elbow, lower arm and hand were injured. The accident, which occurred around 12:40 p.m., left the woman's car approximately 50 feet from the edge of the road, lodged between trees and bushes and facing south.
