STRUCTURE FIRE
AUSABLE FORKS -- Fire officials are investigating what sparked a raging fire inside an unoccupied mobile home early Friday morning.
AuSable Forks Fire Chief Jason Whisher said investigators were still trying to determine exactly how the vacant home at 102 Birchwood Drive became consumed by flames around 12:20 a.m. Friday.
Whisher said the home was fully engulfed when more than two dozen volunteers from the AuSable Forks, Keeseville and Rescue Hose No. 5 fire departments arrived to the area minutes after the blaze was reported.
Crews from the Jay Fire Department provided standby support at the local station during the early morning blaze.
Whisher said it was initially unclear who owned the property and said the charred structure appeared to have some items inside of it.
He said no firefighters were injured battling the fire, which was knocked down within 20 minutes of their arrival.
The home has been deemed a complete loss.
