Seymour: 50 years

PLATTSBURGH — Gerald and Dianna Seymour celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 16, 2013. they were married in St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh in February 16, 1963.

Dianna's sister, Shirley Burl, was maid of honor, and Jan Santimaw was bestman.

They have two sons, Stephen and his wife Ann from West Chazy, and David from Plattsburgh. Gerald is the son of the late Charles and Julia Seymour of Morrisonville, NY. Dianna is the daughter of the late Theresa Brown of Plattsburgh and Roland Brown of Ithaca, NY.

Gerald worked as a lift truck mechanic at Georgia Pacific for 44 years before his retirement in 2005. Dianna worked as a secretary in the Biological Sciences Department at Plattsburgh State University for 27 years before her retirement in 1999.

They celebrated their 50th anniversary with a dinner at Butcher Block with their family. They also took a road trip through the Northwest states back in July to celebrate their anniversary. They got to see the Bonneville Salt Flats, Mt. St. Helens, Yellowstone National Park, the National Redwood Parks, and the Ocean Highway through California and Oregon. They also took a 7 day Alaskan Cruise before returning home. They have traveled extensively since their retirement taking road trips all over the United States, their favorite being the Route 66 old road and it's many attractions from the past.

Jerry and Dianna initiated the Champlain Valley Classic Cruisers back in 1998 and ran the club as president and secretaery for 12 years when they retired. They greatly enhanced the car hobby in the Northeastern New York area. In January of 2013 they started another classic car group - the North Country Classics. They hope to bring out all their old friends and the old cars and have some more fun again traveling around the area and enjoying life.

They are both actively involved in many activities. Dianna enjoys bowling and attending the Zumba Gold classes held at the Senior Center. Besides working in his garage, Jerry enjoys going for coffee with his friends or just helping them out in some way.
