Barcomb: 50 years



ALTONA -- Alton and Beverly Barcomb of 2024 Miner Farm Road, Altona, celebrated their 50th anniversary May 24, 2008. A renewal of their vows was performed by the Rev. Gilbert Boisvert. A papal blessing was presented to them by their children. The anniversary party was held at Rainbow Banquet Hall in Altona. The anniversary cake was made by their daughters, and a slide show presentation was created by their son, Jeremy.

Alton Barcomb and Beverly Rabideau were married Feb. 18, 1958, in St. Mary's Church, Champlain, by the Rev. Paul Beyette. Their wedding attendants were Martha Hicks, sister of the bride, and Albert Barcomb, the bridegroom's brother.

Alton was employed at Georgia Pacific and retired in 2001 and Beverly provided day care for many years.

Their children are: Tammy and Gary Nephew of Mooers Forks; Wendy and Bobby Mesick of Chazy; Lisa and Paul Hammelman of Yardley, Pa.; Julie and Mike Filion of Churubusco; Connie and Andy Poupore of Mooers Forks; Cindy and Keith Porter of Morrisonville; and Jeremy and Jessica Barcomb of Greenwich. The couple has 20 grandchildren with the 21st due this fall. They are: Gary, Farrah and Jodie Nephew; Jonathan, Christopher and Alexandra Mesick; Jennifer and Rachel Hammelman; Tera, Krista, James, Shayna and Jace Filion; Curtis and Danielle Poupore; Kadie, Zoe and Ami Porter; and Jacob and Leah Barcomb.

Alton and Bev enjoy the winters in Florida, spending time with their friends and family who visit. They also enjoy camping, going to yard sales and frequent family get-togethers.
