CHAZY -- Laurie and Paul Bethka of Chazy and Dr. Maurice Racine of Plattsburgh announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachael Racine, of 111 Winthrop Ave., Albany, to David Etzler, also of Albany. He is the son of David and Debbie Etzler of Rutland, Vt., and Andrea and Mike Orlyk of Colchester, Vt.

Rachael Racine graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1999, Plattsburgh State in 2003 with a degree in communication disorders and science, and University at Albany/Wadsworth Center in 2007 with a master's degree in immunology and infectious disease. She is working on her Ph.D in immunology and infectious disease at University at Albany/Wadsworth Center and will graduate in May 2009.

David Etzler graduated from South Burlington High School, Burlington, Vt., in 1996 and Plattsburgh State in 2000 with a degree in mass media/communication. He is a photojournalist at WNYT-TV, NBC affiliate in Albany.

A May 23, 2009, wedding in Albany is being planned.
