Adirondack Health has been presented with the Adirondack Park Excellence in Building Design award for its medical office building in Tupper Lake. The building is home to a modern and spacious health center, medical imaging and laboratory services and office space.
Donna Hamel of the Town of Schuyler Falls has been awarded certification as registered municipal clerk by the New York State Town Clerks Association for achieving its high educational, experience and participatory requirements. Hamel has served as town clerk since March 2003 and is a member of the New York State Town Clerks Association.
Also, Mary Sorrell of the Town of Schuyler Falls has been recognized for her expertise in that position by being awarded certification as registered municipal clerk by the New York State Town Clerks Association. She has served as deputy town clerk since March 2003 and is a member of the Town Clerks Association in New York.
David Curry of Plattsburgh, a professor of nursing at SUNY Plattsburgh, has been elected to a 2-year term on the United University Professions Executive Board.
Katherine Bezio has joined Elizabethtown Community Hospital’s Chemotherapy and Infusion Department. She is responsible for developing and managing patient treatment plans, with support from hospital staff and under the guidance of the patient’s oncologists. Bezio has extensive experience as a nurse practitioner and registered nurse for a number of medical groups in both Maine and upstate New York. She provided support to the University of Vermont and the University of Southern Maine research staff and gained experience in a number of clinical settings, including pediatrics, women’s health, urgent care and family experience. Bezio attended McGill University in Montreal, where she obtained her bachelor of science in physiology, and graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a master’s degree in nursing.
Three local residents have been recognized by the Town of North Elba during National Volunteer Week.
