---- — Hudson Valley Community College has named four area students to the Dean’s List: Jasmine Callis of Mineville, individual studies academics; Jamie Poirier of Moriah, individual studies academics; George Christon of Morrisonville, paramedic-EMT and James Rock of Peru, liberal arts and science, humanities and social science.
Twelve Clarkson University students on the Construction Engineering Management SPEED (Student Projects for Engineering Experience & Design) team competed in the 23rd-annual Student Competition for the Associated Schools of Construction Region 1 in Morristown, N.J. Lucas Short and Brendon Reyell, both of Plattsburgh, who are senior majors in civil engineering, participated on the commercial building team. The two-day competition involved planning, estimating and presenting on a complex construction project. The commercial building team worked on the development of a regional transit support facility and placed fourth out of 14 teams.
Kaleb Sample, son of James and Denise Sample of Ellenburg Center, has been named to the Dean’s List with a 3.6 GPA at SUNY Canton where he is a freshman. He graduate in 2012 from Northern Adirondack Central School in Ellenburg, where he was in the wrestling program.
Several area students are participating in the St. Lawrence University International Study Program. Ben M. Breckenridge of Essex, a member of the 2014 class, is studying in the Kenya Semester Program. He graduated from Willsboro Central School. Emily E. Keable of Chazy, a member of the Class of 2015, is studying in London. She graduated from Chazy Central Rural School. Katherine L. Mazdzer of Saranac Lake is studying in the university’s Washington, D.C., Semester Program at American University. She is a member of the Class of 2014 and a graduate of Saranac Lake Central School. Kaitlin K. Patenaude of Fort Covington is studying in London. She graduated from Salmon River Central School and will graduate from St. Lawrence in 2014. Alexandra M. Roser of Plattsburgh is studying in Austria. She is a graduate of Beekmantown Central School and will graduate in 2015 from St. Lawrence. Emily L. Sheft of Lake Placid, a graduate of Lake Placid High School, is studying abroad in China. She is a member of the Class of 2015. Meghan M. Smith of Fort Covington, a member of the Class of 2014, is studying at Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn. She graduated from Salmon River Central School.
