New store at Champlain Centre

PLATTSBURGH — A new 25 Silver Boutiques store is set to open at Champlain Centre mall on Saturday.

The retailer specializes in women’s jewelry, handbags, fashion accessories and gift ideas.

Brands include Vera Bradley, Chamilia, Kameleon, Spartina, Fossil, Boma, Crabtree and Evelyn and Ti Sento.

Gabby Calabrese, events coordinator for 25 Silver Boutiques, said a grand-opening celebration is set for noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Throughout the day, deals and promotions will be offered on products from Vera Bradley and some of the other lines the store carries.

Calabrese said they have five employees at present and expect to hire at least two more for the upcoming summer months.

The new 3,000-square-foot store will occupy the former Christopher and Banks location near Yankee Candle and Dick’s Sporting Goods. She said the mall staff did a great job preparing the space for them.

“We ended up with a beautiful store (that) we’re excited for people to see,” Calabrese said.

FIFTH LOCATION

The chain started as a kiosk at Crossgates Mall in Albany. Current owner Brendan Wrenn acquired the business five years ago and now has stores in Colonie Center mall, Aviation Mall in Queensbury and Wilton Mall and a seasonal store in Lake George.

Calabrese said Wrenn attended college in Plattsburgh and has always liked the atmosphere of the area. That came into play as he looked for a place to open a fifth store.

“I couldn’t think of a better location to expand my business to than the Plattsburgh region within the heart of the Adirondack Mountains,” he said in a press release.

“With the close proximity to the Canadian border, we look forward to serving our customers both near and far.”

The store will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
