Community Bank to consolidate offices

MALONE — Community Bank plans to consolidate two Franklin County branches later this year.

The bank plans to move operations from its branch at 1290 Washington Ave. in Brushton to the branch at 10 Elm St. in Malone.

In addition, the branch at 314 Hosley Ave. in Tupper Lake will be consolidated into the Tupper Lake branch at 75 Park St.

The company anticipates no layoffs associated with the move because all employees will be offered employment at other nearby Community Bank locations.

“While improving the efficiency of our branch network, our customers will be happy to know that they’ll see the same employees at our other nearby branches,” Senior Vice President for Retail Banking Hal Wentworth said in a press release.

Customer accounts will be automatically transferred to those new locations.

Employees at any area Community Bank locations are available to help customers affected by the changes to set up direct deposit, night deposit, online banking, mobile banking, mobile deposit, remote deposit capture or other services in order to ease the transition.

The Malone Elm Street branch is open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Saturdays, the drive-up window is open from 9 a.m. until noon.

Brushton customers may also find it convenient to utilize nearby Community Bank offices in St. Regis Falls, Fort Covington and at 320 West Main St. in Malone, the news release said.

The Park Street branch in Tupper Lake is open Monday to Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Both branches have a 24-hour ATM.

Customers are encouraged to speak with the staff at any Community Bank location should they have any questions or call 1-800-388-4679.

The bank had previously announced that it will also close its 524 Route 3 branch in Plattsburgh, following expansion of its other branch, located a short distance away at 468 Route 3 in Plattsburgh.
