Price Chopper award
SCHENECTADY -- At the Certified Angus Beef's annual conference, held Sept. 13-15 in Savannah, Ga., Price Chopper was presented with the Retail Marketer of the Year award for outstanding support of the brand.
Accepting the award for Price Chopper were Jerry Golub, senior vice president of sales and merchandising, Jerry Wallace, vice president of meat merchandising, and Tim Toussaint, category manager.
Price Chopper has been one of the CAB brand's top 10 retailers across the nation. The chain offers traditional CAB brand, CAB brand natural and CAB brand prime, as well as dry-aged CAB items.
Their strategic merchandising and marketing resulted in a double-digit increase in sales. Product demonstrations, cooking classes and its multi-media "We Know Meat" campaign has led customers to the brand. The We Know Meat brochure is a very useful consumer guide to buying, preparing and cooking a variety of meats including CAB. These brochures are available in-store at the meat department.
Based in Schenectady, the Golub Corp. owns and operates more than 115 Price Chopper grocery stores in New York, Vermont, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

75th anniversary
PLATTSBURGH -- Four generations of one family. Twenty-four thousand extended family members. Seventy-five years.
From humble beginnings in the 1930s as Golub's Cash and Carry, the brainchild of Russian immigrant Lewis (Leib) Golub to the Public Service Market/Central Market concept developed by his sons Ben and Bill to what is known today as Price Chopper Supermarkets is celebrating.
With 116 stores in six states, an army of 24,000 plus associates who collectively own more than 50 percent of the company and sales in excess of $3 billion, Price Chopper continues to be a fiercely successful competitor in an industry where few family-managed businesses survive.
Sept. 30 kicks off a public celebration of Price Chopper's 75th anniversary that will span six weeks, extending through Nov. 10. A special 75th anniversary logo has been designed that will be used in television and print advertising as well as on store signage and associate apparel.
Each of the six celebratory weeks will focus on a theme, supported by a detailed public and media relations effort, special content in the weekly ad, marketing and advertising vehicles, unique in-store signage, merchandising and special promotions in the community.
