PLATTSBURGH — Earth Day is today, but events all week will raise awareness of environmental issues.
“Earth Week is a fun way to celebrate our planet while learning ways to improve it,” Karyn Ehmann said in a press release.
She is president of the Environmental Action Committee at SUNY Plattsburgh, a student-run group that is sponsoring several activities this week.
The celebration kicked off with Eco Fest Monday night at Angell College Center, featuring an Earth Day concert by the Blind Owl Band, raffles and eco-friendly activities. While there was no admission charge for students, the general public paid $3 per ticket. Those proceeds will go the Adirondack Wildlife Fund.
