ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, to decide whether to hire a consultant.
The board will meet in the school conference room to consider a short-term agreement with Interim Superintendent A. Paul Scott for temporary support as Scott Osborne moves into the new combined position of superintendent/principal.
The board will decide whether to sign a contract so Scott, former Peru school superintendent, can help Osborne “if and as needed” with district budgeting and fiscal planning, school-community relations and other matters.
Osborne, now principal at Peru Primary School, is expected to start work at ELCS on Nov. 13. He is familiar with the district, having served as principal at ELCS from 2007 to 2009.
Also at Wednesday’s special meeting, the board will consider a proposal from the class of 2013 for an overnight senior trip during spring recess and will appoint coaches for the winter sports season.
The date for November’s regular monthly School Board meeting has been changed to Thursday, Nov. 15. That session is slated to begin at about 7 p.m., following a 6 p.m. reception in the auditorium for the school community to welcome recently appointed Superintendent/Principal Scott Osborne.
School community members, including parents, students, employees and other district residents are asked to RSVP by calling 873-6371, Ext. 502. Light refreshments will be provided.
The board meeting will take place in the district conference room after the reception.
Agenda items for Nov. 15 include a first look at a new policy regarding student field trips and excursions and adoption of five other updated district policies, regarding fiscal management, the annual budget, establishing budget priorities, board requests for data and reports and a revised purchasing policy.
The board will also talk with architect John McKenna about his recent examination of the school’s roof systems.
All meetings are open to the public.
