PLATTSBURGH -- Two restaurants and a new natural-food store are coming to the Plattsburgh State campus.
College Auxiliary Services Executive Director Wayne Duprey said the college will soon be home to separate Tim Hortons and Subway restaurants and a Green Grocer natural and organic food store.
All will be located in Angell College Center and are expected to open this fall.
"We're really retooling all of our services out of the Angell Center," Duprey said.
He said the three new shops are open to the public, as are all of the dining and shopping businesses on campus.
TIM HORTONS
Tim Hortons is a Canadian chain that offers coffee, specialty beverages, doughnuts and other baked goods, sandwiches, soups, salads and breakfast sandwiches and hash browns. It is extremely popular in Canada and western New York.
It will replace Java Jo's on the second floor of the Angell Center, at the north end of the William C. Flynt Commons.
Duprey said bids for the renovation of that space will be opened Wednesday, and the contractor will have 30 days to complete the work.
The goal is to have Tim Hortons operating by mid-September, he said.
It will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
CARTWELLS CONTRACT
Duprey said the new choices are part of the five-year dining program contract that was awarded to Chartwells in March. College Auxiliary Services worked with a consultant to conduct surveys and interviews to determine what would be popular on campus.
