Sue-Ann Dunn of Plattsburgh earned a bachelor of fine arts in communications degree from SUNY Geneseo in December 2007.

The Lake Placid Institute for Arts and Humanities has announced the winners of the 2008 Great Adirondack Young People's Poetry Contest. The winning poems were selected from more than 800 entries from students in grades 1 - 12 from all over the Adirondack region. The LPI is granting scholarships for the following high school students to attend the Young Writer's Conference, a spring writing workshop on the campus of Champlain College in Burlington, Vt.: Martha McKinley and Kristen Linder of Westport Central School.

Grade 12: Kristin Linder, Kelsey Sears, Westport Central School; Carne Shackett, Keene Central School; Chauntel Gillilland, Westport Central School.

A group of students at Boston College Graduate School of Social Work, including Jamie Wood of Plattsburgh, have returned from a three-week service-learning trip to South India. The group's goal was to study social problems and learn about the cultural context of human services in a developing country, health and mental health issues, and sustainable development in villages affected by the deadly 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

Kate L. Armstrong, the daughter of George and Colleen Armstrong of Keeseville, has been inducted into the National Honor Society of Psychology, PSI CHI. She attends the University of Albany.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Clinton and Essex Counties sent two 4-H members to this year's Capital Days. Youth meet with their local legislators, attend political proceedings and tour the capital. Christine Allen, Chaperone Darlene Medeiro and Stephanie Burrows attended.
