WESTPORT — Bessboro Shop & Clothing Boutique’s proprietor Julianne Sherman will turn “Fall into Fashion” for the annual Elizabethtown-Westport Garden Club Fashion Show Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16.
The Fashion Show, to be held at the Westport Hotel and Tavern, will showcase a transitional material that can be worn in spring, summer or fall, and also a collection of new cotton sweaters.
“I’m showing pretty colors — periwinkle blue teeming up with black and beautiful prints and designs,” said Sherman, who is a Garden Club member and also coordinates the Fashion Show.
Designs include paisley and Scandinavian. Tribal is a standby.
“I’m going to have 12 or 14 outfits,” Sherman said.
The luncheon is one of the club’s two yearly fundraisers.
The Green Tea is held the first Friday in December at the United Church of Christ in Elizabethtown.
“That is one of our major fundraisers. We dedicate everything we make to the hospital, EMS and our medical services in and around Elizabethtown. Originally, it started in someone’s home, and it grew,” said Helen DeChant, president of the Garden Club.
“We do Christmas greens, a lot of plants and different types of Christmas ornaments, and serve a nice lunch.”
The Fashion Show Luncheon is held at different venues. This year’s event marks the 25th anniversary of the event.
“Our members make up really nice raffle baskets and other donations of nice gifts,” DeChant said. “We take and do a raffle with that and do door prizes.”
The $22 ticket covers a lunch that includes a fresh-fruit medley, grilled/sliced chicken breast on mixed greens, pasta salad, roll and butter, and caramelized bread pudding.
Attendees can purchase raffle tickets and peruse the offerings starting at 11:30 a.m. Lunch is served after that, and the models start to do what models do.
