First community forum tonight

PLATTSBURGH — The newly forming Rotary Club International Sunset Club is initiating a monthly forum featuring discussions with local authors, newsmakers, visionaries and experts in various fields.

The first speaker, at a forum set for 7 tonight at Plattsburgh City Hall, is SUNY Plattsburgh professor of economics and finances Colin Read, who will present a talk on his book by the same name, “The Rise and Fall of an Economic Empire.”

The forums, aimed to stimulate discussion in the North Country, will take place at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month, with the next one featuring Keith Herkalo, talking about his recent book, “September Eleventh, 1814, The Battles at Plattsburgh.”

The community forum organizers welcome ideas for future topics of interest. The talks are not political but designed to educate and stimulate.
