Keeseville dissolution meeting set

KEESEVILLE — The Village of Keeseville Dissolution Study Committee is preparing its final dissolution report to submit to the Village Board.

Before the study, plan and alternatives are presented to the board, a final public meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Keeseville Fire House, 8 Pleasant St.

Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the study, which examines the potential impact of eliminating the village as a separate municipal government and transferring services to the towns of AuSable and Chesterfield.

During this meeting, the Dissolution Study Committee and its consultants will present the culmination of their work: the Dissolution Study, Plan and Alternatives.

This is the committee’s final product and spells out in detail its recommendations to the Village Board regarding how the affairs of the village would be transitioned if it ceased to exist and what impact it would have on residents of the village and the two towns.

Alternatives to dissolution are also examined and will be presented for consideration.

Copies of the report will be available following the Oct. 17 meeting on the website http://keeseville.ning.com and at the Village Offices.

This meeting will conclude the work conducted by the Dissolution Study Committee and provide residents with another chance to provide input. Public comments expressed during this meeting will be incorporated into the final documents delivered to the Village Board.

The Dissolution Study project is funded by a grant from the New York State Department of State’s Local Government Efficiency Grant Program.
