Woman charged with sex abuse

PAUL SMITHS — A Paul Smith’s student was indicted by a Franklin County grand jury for allegedly sexually abusing another female on campus.

Kaitlyn Masker, 22, of Syracuse was indicted on charges of second-degree aggravated sexual abuse, forcible touching and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, stemming from an incident Feb. 17, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

Law-enforcement officials said the women were together at first consensually, but Masker reportedly became upset when the other woman changed her mind.

The alleged victim, who is also a Paul Smith’s student, was allegedly prevented from leaving by Masker, who allegedly subjected the woman to sexual contact and unwanted touching.

Masker pleaded not guilty and is expected to return to court Thursday, Aug. 8.
