Ellenburg Town Council to consider tax-cap override

ELLENBURG — The Ellenburg Town Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Town Hall, 13 Brandybrook Road, concerning a local law to override the state tax-levy cap.

Jack K. Hinman Day in Malone today

MALONE — The Town Council declared today Jack K. Hinman Day in Malone to honor of a long-time supporter of the Greater Malone YMCA.

“Jack has always been involved in and with his community as a volunteer, leader, activist and friend,” the proclamation states.

He is cited for work with Rotary International, Alice Hyde Medical Center, the Visitors Interpretive Center at Paul Smith’s and the YMCA, among other organizations.

Hinman was born in Bangor and earned recognition as an Eagle Scout in his youth. He served in the U.S. Army Cavalry during the Korean Conflict and is a retired teacher and administrator in the Malone Central School District.

Saranac Central Board to discuss budget calendar

SARANAC — The Saranac Central School District Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at the District Office in Dannemora. 

Some agenda items include the budget calendar, acceptance of donations, revising May board meeting dates and the employment of particular person(s). 

A complete agenda is available at the District Office and at www.saranac.org. 

The board encourages the public to attend.
