Haunted Wagon Ride canceled

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club has canceled the Haunted Wagon Ride scheduled for next Saturday in Elizabethtown.

Waverly bridge rehab complete

WAVERLY — Work to rehabilitate the bridge on State Route 458 over the St. Regis River in the Town of Waverly has been completed.

The crossing had been closed for the rehabilitation.

The $800,000 project is part of the NY Works program, with $33 million in funding targeted for the North Country. 

Undertaken in July, it included replacement of the bridge deck and approach slabs, guiderail and bridge-rail systems, bearings and structural steel repairs.

“This rehabilitation work will better preserve the state’s infrastructure and guard against the need for more costly construction projects,” the New York State Department of Transportation said in a press release.

City assessors not available Monday

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Assessment Office will be closed Monday.

Rouses Point Clean-Up Days start Monday

ROUSES POINT — The Fall Clean-Up Days for the Village of Rouses Point are set for Monday through Friday.

Residents are reminded that the collection is for the pickup of bagged leaves, shrubs and tree limbs less than 3 inches in diameter only.

There will be no pickup of paint cans, tires, stumps, waste oil, stones, cement or wood.

Residents are requested to bag all leaves in clear bags only and place them at curbside in a way that parked cars, etc., do not block the pickup truck. This will greatly facilitate the collection.

Superintendent search on Saranac Central agenda

SARANAC — The Saranac Central School Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the District Office in Dannemora.

The board contemplates convening an executive session to discuss the employment history of particular person(s) and negotiations.

The regular meeting will reconvene at approximately 7 p.m.

Some agenda items include a student recognition presentation, a capital project update, the employment of particular person(s) and a discussion on the superintendent’s search process.
