SUNY students raise breast-cancer awareness

PLATTSBURGH — Pink nail polish and pink hair extensions were offered at a fundraiser dubbed maniCure at SUNY Plattsburgh on Tuesday.

Sorority Alpha Epsilon Phi put on the event in the Alumni Conference Room in Plattsburgh State's Angell Center, with proceeds benefiting the national nonprofit organization SHARSHERET that supports Jewish women facing breast cancer.

October is National Breast Cancer Month.

Sorority Head of Philanthropy Katheryn Castillo said they hoped to see every woman with pink nails and hair extensions and even invited men to have their nails painted or at least buy and wear a pink ribbon as a gesture of support.
