---- — Chickens on Village of Champlain agenda tonight
CHAMPLAIN — The Champlain Village Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. today on a proposed local law defining domestic animals.
An issue over chickens kept by an Oak Street resident prompted the legislation, as existing zoning law does not specifically say whether poultry can be kept in the village, according to Village Mayor Greg Martin.
If the Village Board passes the law, he said, existing chickens will not be grandfathered in.
The board meets at 6:30 p.m., with the hearing at 7 p.m.
