New website provides voter information

PLATTSBURGH — The Plattsburgh Area League of Women Voters has launched Vote411.org to bring election information to the community.

VOTE411.org is designed to be a “one-stop-shop” for election listings, providing nonpartisan information to the public.

The website lists both general and state-specific information on these aspects of the election process: an electronic voters guide with information provided by candidates, absentee ballot information, ballot propositions (where applicable), election dates, ID requirements, military and overseas voting, polling-place locations, registration deadlines, voter qualifications, voter registration forms and information on voting machines.

It can be accessed online through the league’s website, www.plattsburgh.ny.lwvnet.org, in an easy-to-use electronic format.

Citizens can compare candidate information and print a customized sample ballot before Election Day.

Candidate information is available for candidates in the races for Clinton and Essex counties. Candidates who have not yet submitted their information are listed with “Candidate has not responded.”

Candidate who would like to provide biographical information and answer position questions should email Suzy Johnson at suzyjhn@charter.net.

The league is a nonpartisan political membership organization, open to men and women, that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens in government, works to increase understanding of major public-policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
