Boil-water order in Moriah

MORIAH CENTER — A boil-water order is in place for Moriah water districts 1 and 4 as about 400 feet of water main is replaced as part of the construction of a new bridge over Mill Brook.

Water service will be disrupted for about four hours starting at about midnight tonight and lasting between four and eight hours, and there is a chance that temporary low pressure in the system could cause contamination to enter the system, according to the Essex County Health Department.

Users are ordered to boil all water for drinking and cooking until the order is lifted. Use boiled or bottled water for making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth and food preparation, the release said.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
