Beekmantown School Boardto meet Monday

BEEKMANTOWN — The Beekmantown Central School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in the Middle/High School library. 

Agenda items include substitute appointments, establishing the calendar for board/district goals and establishing future work sessions.

Peru Town Council special meetingis planned

PERU — The Town of Peru Town Council will meet in a special session on Monday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 3036 Main St. 

The purpose of the meeting is for the distribution of the 2014 Town of Peru tentative budget to the town board.

Public meeting set on underwater transmission line

PLATTSBURGH — The public, organizations, businesses, municipalities and others interested in the plans for running an underwater power transmission line on the bottom of Lake Champlain from Canada to the southern end of the lake are invited to a Champlain Hudson Power Express public informational meeting.

It will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the North Country Chamber of Commerce, 7061 Route 9 in Plattsburgh.

Representatives from Transmission Developers Inc. will provide an update on the status of the project and also the present and long-term plans and time frames for constructing the power line.

Included will be what the project might look like for Lake Champlain, the route of the power cable and how it will be installed, equipment needed for the installation and time frames. 

Updates on progress, including approvals, permits, underwater surveying and mapping, will be presented at the session, which is sponsored by the New York Citizens Advisory Committee of the Lake Champlain Basin Program.

Altona Town Council changes October meeting date 

ALTONA — The regularly scheduled meeting of the Altona Town Council for next month has been changed from Oct. 14 to Oct. 7 due to the Columbus Day holiday.

The session, set for 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, is open to the public.

Time changedfor Chazy Town Council session

CHAZY — The Chazy Town Council has changed the time of the budget meeting scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Originally set for 4 p.m., it will now be at 5:15 p.m.

The session is open to the public.
