Schroon Lake teen safe

SCHROON LAKE — Cole Anauo is safe at home.

The 15-year-old Schroon Lake teen, subject of an intensive search after he disappeared over the weekend, "returned to his residence in good health" at about 9:30 p.m. Monday, according to a State Police news release.

Police had received a call at about 2 p.m. Sunday from his parents, who said they had not seen him since about 7 p.m. Saturday.

Cole's mother, Alexis Anauo, said Monday that his backpack was found at the airport on Alder Meadow Road and another bag and tent were located near their home on Davis Road.

State Police, State Environmental Conservation Police, state forest rangers, Schroon Lake Fire Department members, Anauo’s family and community members spent nearly 24 hours looking for the teen in the woods.

A search planned for early this morning was called off.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
