Battle events feature concert tonight

PLATTSBURGH — The annual Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration heads toward its big weekend, featuring a concert tonight.

Admission to concerts and other events comes with purchase of a $10 button for ages 18 and older; kids get in free. Buy buttons at sites around the area.

Here’s a look at highlights (all events are in Plattsburgh unless otherwise noted):

TODAY

7 to 9 p.m.: Compass Rose concert (formerly Back Porch Band), Stafford Theater, Clinton Community College.

TUESDAY

7 to 9 p.m.: Bluegrass Gospel Project concert, Stafford Theater, Clinton Community ColIege.

WEDNESDAY

5 to 5:30 p.m.: Memorial Ceremony, Old Post Cemetery, near Lake Forest Assisted Living Facility on the old side of the former Plattsburgh Air Force Base.

7 to 9 p.m.: Woods Tea Company concert, Stafford Theater, Clinton Community College.

THURSDAY

4:30 and 5 p.m.: Two ceremonies at Riverside Cemetery, Steltzer Road. First, the re-dedication of the newly restored Halsey gravesite, then the annual Riverside Cemetery memorial with wreaths honoring officers of both sides killed during the Battle of Plattsburgh.

7:30 to 9:30 p.m.: Hey Jude concert (Beatles tribute band), Strand Theater.

FRIDAY, SEPT. 13

10 to 3 p.m.: Alice T. Miner Collection, guided tours at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m., Chazy.

11 a.m.: Crab Island Memorial, Crab Island, by American Legion Post 1619.

Noon to midnight: W2W ham radio on the air, Trinity Park.

1 to 5 p.m.: Macdonough Monument, self-guided tours, City Hall Place.

4 to 7 p.m.: Cannonball Run, preregistration, Trinity Park.

4 to 11 p.m.: Israel Green Tavern, vintage dining and entertainment, 18 Trinity Place.

4:30 to 6 p.m.: Roy Hurd concert, Israel Green Tavern, 18 Trinity Place.

5 to 6 p.m.: Eliza Mooers Historic District Walking Tour, Melissa Bistor-Cross, starts at Macdonough Monument.

6 to 8:30 p.m.: Charlie Stone and Split Rock concert, 18 Trinity Place.

7:30 to 9:30 p.m.: Spirit of Johnny Cash concert, City Hall steps.

9 to 11  p.m.: Alice Knight and Speedy Arnold concert, 18 Trinity Place.
