A random sample of residents from every county in the 21st Congressional District will receive an invitation by telephone to participate in the conference call.

PLATTSBURGH — Literacy Volunteers of Clinton County is in need of new tutors. Volunteers tutor adults one-on-one for two hours each week with flexible scheduling. Tutors are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of free training before they are matched with a learner.
Training begins with a required Orientation Session on Monday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 5 pm in Room 049 in the basement of Hawkins Hall at SUNY Plattsburgh. For those who choose to work with a basic literacy learner, the next two sessions would be on Sept. 16 and 18 at the same time and place. For those who want to focus on English speaking learners, the next two sessions would be on Sept. 23 and 25 same time and location. For those who are interested, it is possible to complete training in both areas.
Training will conclude with a required Successful Tutoring Session on Monday, Sept. 30, again at the same time and place.
