NCCS to interview interim-super candidates

CHAMPLAIN — The Northeastern Clinton Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, to interview candidates for the position of interim superintendent.

Meetings are open to the public.

Town of Franklin Democrats seek candidates

FRANKLIN — The Town of Franklin Democratic Party is looking for candidates for the fall election.

The party caucus will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, at the Franklin Town Hall.

Candidates for the following positions are needed: supervisor, two-year term, $13,260 salary; Town Council, two positions open, four-year term, $3,876; superintendent of highway, two-year term, $54,876; town clerk, two-year term, $18,000; and justice of the peace, four-year term, $9,000.

Democratic members may consider being a candidate for an office in the November election.

People who are interested should attend the caucus.

Food drive to help needy in 3 counties

PLATTSBURGH — The North Country Regional Volunteer Center operated by the United Way of the Adirondack Region Inc. is remembering 9/11 by holding a three-county food drive as a National Day of Service project.

The food, to be distributed through Catholic Charities of Franklin County, JCEO in Clinton County and ACAP in Essex County, will be collected during business hours on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Non-perishable food items can be delivered to United Way of the Adirondack Region at 45 Tom Miller Road, Plattsburgh; JCEO, 54 Margaret St., Plattsburgh; ACAP, 7572 Court Street, Suite 2, Elizabethtown; Catholic Charities of Franklin County, 57 Rennie St., Malone; and Community Action Agency Outreach Centers in Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.
