Ti man charged with Crown Point School burglary

CROWN POINT — A 30-year-old Ticonderoga man has been arrested in connection with a 2011 break-in at Crown Point Central School.

Investigators say Todd M. Baker had an accomplice but will not divulge the person’s name, State Police said in a news release.

Baker was charged with third-degree burglary after DNA evidence found at the school linked him to the March 2011 crime, the release said.

State Police estimate the damages total nearly $20,000.

District Superintendent Shari Brannock told authorities that numerous doors were pried open in the school and filing cabinets and furniture were overturned, police said.

The school’s security system was also disconnected during the burglary, police said.

Baker was arraigned in Crown Point Town Court on Aug. 15 and is in Essex County Jail without bail because a parole warrant had been issued for his arrest, police said.

State Police ask that anyone with information regarding the case call the Ray Brook barracks at 897-2000.

FYI...
  • Why do wolves howl?

Of all the myths that dog the wolf, none is more widely accepted than the idea that wolves howl at the moon. Images of wolves with their heads upturned, singing at the night sky, are as unquestioned as a goldfish's three-second memory or a dog's color-blindness (both also myths).
