Hydrant flushing set for Old Base streets

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Public Works Department will conduct a fire/flow hydrant flushing test between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today for several streets on the former Old Base.

The streets are: Club Road, Fort Brown Drive, U.S. Oval and Aiken Court.

The city will flush hydrants between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday on: Ohio Avenue; Washington, Oklahoma and Museum ways; New York Road; Nevada Oval; and New Hampshire Street.

Each hydrant must flow water three to five minutes, which may stir up water flowing from the faucet. Avoid taking a bath or washing clothes during that time.

ELCS School Board calls special meeting

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28, on the conference room.

The board is expected to confirm tax rolls and authorize the tax levy, sign the tax warrant, appoint substitutes, accept a cafe resignation and appoint an interim transportation coordinator.

Board meetings are open to the public.

Owens sets mobile office hours for Thursday

PLATTSBURGH — Staff from the office of Congressman Bill Owens (D-Plattsburgh) will hold mobile office hours at locations in the 21st Congressional District this week.  

No appointment is necessary.

All this Thursday, the times and North Country locations for constituents to meet with staff are: 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Supervisor’s Office, Ticonderoga Town Hall, 132 Montcalm St.; 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Board Room of Moriah Town Hall, 38 Park Place, Port Henry; and 3 to 5 p.m. in the BRASS Office at the Visitor Center, 3743 Main St., Willsboro.

Owens also maintains district offices, among them one in Plattsburgh.
