Road Construction Roundup: May 23, 2013

The 2013 road construction season has begun.

Crews ask that motorists use caution when driving through work zones, where fines are doubled for speeding.

Here’s a look at some of the projects around Clinton, Essex and Franklin counties.

CLINTON COUNTY

Countywide road construction: Crews are sweeping and performing general maintenance throughout the county. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers as necessary.

Route 190, Ellenburg: Crews are working on the connector between routes 190 and 11. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.

Lake Shore Road, Chazy: Crews will begin rehabilitation of the Lake Shore Bridge over the Little Chazy River immediately south of Lapointe Road in late June. During that time, a detour will be in place.

Interstate 87, Plattsburgh: The northbound and southbound lanes have been reduced to one lane from Route 3 to Exit 39. Work-zone speed is 45 mph. There is a signed detour for motorists trying to use the Exit 38 northbound on-ramp, which is closed. There are lane restrictions of 16 feet in the southbound lane and 18 feet in the northbound lane.

One-lane traffic will remain until early October.

Route 22, Plattsburgh: Crews are reconstructing the overpass over Interstate 87. There will be some daily lane closures. Traffic is controlled by flaggers.

Guideboard Road, Town of Blackbrook: The road is closed due to a drainage structure failure. Materials to repair the road are expected to be delivered by mid June.

CITY OF PLATTSBURGH

Boynton Avenue: Crews are reconstructing the road between Lynd Street and Woodland Avenue. Traffic is controlled by flaggers as necessary.

ESSEX COUNTY

Route 9, Chesterfield: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions at the Chesterfield/Lewis line. Traffic is controlled by a temporary signal.

Route 86, Wilmington: Traffic has been reduced to one lane in alternating directions from the Jay/Wilmington line to Route 431 until further notice. Crews are repairing the bridge over the AuSable River ½ mile north of Fox Farm Road.
