---- — Tupper Lake Village Board to choose new police chief
TUPPER LAKE — The Tupper Lake Village Board will appoint a new police chief at tonight’s meeting.
The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. to Village Offices. Police Chief Thomas J. Fee will be presented with a plaque for his 34 years of service to the community. The new police chief will start work on Feb. 28.
Also on the agenda are:
▶ A request from the Tupper Lake Woodsmen’s Association to use the Municipal Park to host Woodsmen’s Days July 9 through 16 and one from the Adirondack Lakes Center for Arts to use the Flanders Park Aug. 2 to host Shakespeare in the Park: Macbeth.
▶ Discussion about Mercy Care for the Adirondacks work with Aging in Place Task Forces in each of the Tri-Lakes communities to help them become more aging-friendly. The Task Force is collaborating with student volunteers from Tupper Lake Junior/Senior High School to assist elders with fall, winter and spring yard work.
The board meeting is open to all.
Feinberg Library to host debate series
PLATTSBURGH — SUNY Plattsburgh’s Feinberg Library is sponsoring a new series of point-counterpoint debates, “The Dead Talks.”
Free and open to the public, these will take place in the library’s third-floor reading room.
The schedule is: “Is Peace Among Religions Dead?” by Dr. Becky Kasper with world religions students, 5 p.m. today; “Is Feminism Dead?” by Dr. Simona Sharoni with gender and women’s studies students, 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 26; and “Is the Public Good Dead?” by Dr. Tom Moran and Dr. Richard Schaffer, 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.

Saranac Lake School Board meeting planned Wednesday
SARANAC LAKE — The Saranac Lake Central School Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Petrova Library.
The agenda includes discussion of roles of the New York State School Board Association’s Rural School Association and Franklin-Essex-Hamilton BOCES. There also will be a discussion about the top 10 percent of the graduating class.
The meeting is open to the public.
