---- — Make bird feeders today for Great Backyard Bird Count

PLATTSBURGH — The SUNY Plattsburgh Wildlife Club is inviting the people to stop by Angell College Center between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. today to make pine-cone bird feeders.

Participants are encourage to hang the feeders in outdoor locations of their own choice, then spend 15 minutes making note of the individual birds of each species that come to feed sometime Friday through Monday as part of the national Great Backyard Bird Count.

Those taking part submit their findings at to be included with results from around the country.

All are welcome to join in, according to the site, whether beginning or expert bird watchers of any age.

City of Plattsburgh Common Council to meet tonight

PLATTSBURGH — The City of Plattsburgh Common Council will review several items at tonight’s meeting.

Among them are: authorization to participate in the Lakes to Locks Passage kiosk; approval of continuing the contract with James Burgess as nuisance animal control officer for 2013 at the same total cost as 2013, $25,000; and authorization for the city engineer to advertise for bids on the Dennis Avenue Improvements contract, with work planned for the street between the Prospect Avenue and Olivetti Place intersections..

The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Siblings hit by car while waiting for bus

BRASHER FALLS (AP) — Three siblings were injured Tuesday when they were hit by a car while waiting for a school bus outside their Brasher Falls home.

State Police said Brittany Brothers, 19; Scott Brothers, 17; and Brianna Brothers, 10; were standing along Route 53 in the St. Lawrence County community when they were hit by a car that left the road and crossed into their driveway.

Police said the three are hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver wasn’t hurt.

Troopers say the road was covered in slush; the driver is expected to be ticketed.
